The main deity of this temple is Lord Dharmashasta Ayyappa. The birth of Sree Kumbalagodu Ayyappa happened in the very premises where the idol has been installed i.e., the idol was cast here on 13th April 2014 in front of all the devotees, by melting the gold, silver, copper, iron and brass donated by them. Prior to this small insignias of the Panchaloha engraved with Ayyappa’s image were taken by 50 Swamis in their Irumudi to Sabarimala and after the pooja at Sabarimala were brought back to Kumbalagodu. What a breath-taking and blissful moment it was. Blessed are all the souls who got to witness this great once in a lifetime event (birth of Ayyappa). The Prana Pratishtapana of the idol was done by the High Priest of Sabarimala, Kandararu Rajeevaru Tantri on 21st May 2014.
The energies of this Kshetra are further enhanced by the divine presence of Shakti Ganapathi, Bala Shanmukha, Ardhanareeshwara, Lakshmi Narayana and Naga Devatas.
To compliment all the above energies, the Pratishtapana of Sri Chakra was done on 6th February 2022. The Supreme Mother residing in the Sri Chakra has manifested herself in the form of Goddess Sri Lalitha Tripura Sundari, whose Prana Pratishtapana has been done on top of the Sri Chakra.
All the Garbha Grihas of this Punya Kshetra have been built by using Sri Krishna shila stones and the ancient traditional system of Shadadhara Pratishtapana has been followed.
This temple is being constructed and managed by Sree Dharmasastha Ayyappa Religious Trust on land measuring approximately 70 guntas which was procured out of generous contributions from members of Somavamsha Sahasrarjuna Kshatriya Community, Bangalore.
As per the Ashtamangala Prashna this Kshetra was destined to be utilised only for spiritual purposes and Sri N. Krishnasa, Guruswamy, only acted as a medium for fulfilment of the same by making this Kshetra a religious place wherein people would come and pray for their well being.
Sri N. Krishnasa, Guruswamy was a non-believer in Ayyappa who used to dislike people chanting even his HOLY name. But one day in the year 1981 a miracle happened and he was blessed by the Lord and thus started his spiritual journey.
In the devotional path that ensued thereon the friends and relatives of Sri N. Krishnasa viz., Sri H.M. Nagendra, Sri K.G. Seetharamsa, Sri M.R. Raghavendra and Sri G.K. Somashekhar joined him and a group was formed. Bhajans and Kirtans were conducted in a small dwelling of Sri N. Krishnasa at Akkipet, Bangalore wherein people started visiting in large numbers as the news of miracles happening in that place started spreading.
The people who participated in the Ayyappa Bhajans, majority of them being members of the Somavamsha Sahasrarjuna Kshatriya community used to offer monetary contributions and this fund started accumulating. The Ayyappa Mandali consisting of above members started contemplating on the usage of the fund and the outcome of the same was to provide a permanent place of worship to the devotees at large by establishing an abode for Lord Ayyappa.
The Ayyappa Mandali then spread its wings with the inclusion of many more devotees and it is pertinent to note the names of some of the prominent members viz., Sri B.S. Ranganath (BSR), Sri K. Premanath, Sri M.M. Narayanasa, Sri M.M. Nagaraj, Sri H.B. Gangadhar, Sri Vijay Desai, Sri J.K. Suresh and Sri B.R. Sham who have devoted their life for the fulfilment of the vision of their beloved Guruswamy of having an abode for Lord Ayyappa.
